Presenting its first concert in 1952, the Marin Symphony Association is one of the longest-running cultural organizations in Marin and the San Francisco Bay Area. The Symphony has grown to include approximately 85 professional musicians, a majority of whom perform throughout the SF Bay Area and representing all the major musical performing arts organizations.
Each season the Symphony presents Masterworks classical concerts in the Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium from October through May. Specialty Concerts and events such as Concerts by Candlelight, Holiday Pops and Family Concert are proudly offered, in addition to the traditional classical works.
A wide contrast of era and mood characterized the first half of Marin Symphony’s stellar June 19 program in the Marin Center, opening with Jennifer Higdon’s transparent, cloud-light tone poem, blue cathedral, and ending with Stravinsky’s clashing, crashing Symphony in Three Movements.
